ASCA is proud to be hosting an educational stall at the inaugural Cheese Lovers Festival in the Hunter Valley, on Saturday 25 June. ASCA volunteers who are all professional cheesemongers will be on hand to answer everything you ever wanted to know about Australian cheese, but didn’t know who to ask. Want to know if there are specialty cheesemakers in your local area? Keen for some recommendations about the best Aussie cheeses? Don’t know the difference between a gouda and a gruyere? We can help! Stop by our stall and #AskASCA.
Date: Saturday 25th June, 2016
Time: 10am – 4pm
Venue: The Sebel Kirkton Park, 336 Oakey Creek Road, Pokolbin NSW 2320
Tickets: General festival admission $20 per person (kids under 12 free)
Tickets for the Cheese Lunch (on Saturday 25th) and Cheese Dinner (on the previous night, Friday 24th) are available separately.
ASCA members Milawa Cheese Co, Second Mouse Cheese Co, Tolpuddle Goat Cheese and King Island Dairy are among the many stallholders who will be selling and sampling cheese on the day. Please show your support by visiting their stalls and buying their cheese!
And ASCA member Sonia Cousins will present an educational workshop called ‘How to be a cheese snob’ (with tongue firmly planted in cheek, of course). The workshop will cover buying, storing and serving great Australian cheese, and some cheese trivia too. It will also include a guided tasting of four local cheeses, and some Hunter Valley wines. It starts at 12 noon and is FREE with festival entry but places are limited, so seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Other festival highlights include a 3-course cheese-themed lunch (and a dinner the night before) designed by Lyndey Milan and Bruce Tyrrell, and a Fancy Cheesecake Competition, open to professional and amateur bakers. There will also be a Kids Zone with farm animals and fun activities.
Cost: General admission $20, kids under 12 free
